What do the app's statuses mean?
Updated October 18, 2026
The SteadyEarner app shows a status line that tells you whether this computer is earning right now.
Earning
- Sharing active: the app is connected and this computer is earning paid minutes.
Running, but not earning right now
- Connecting…: the app is connecting to SteadyEarner. If it stays this way, check your internet connection and restart the app.
- 8 paid hours reached today. Earning resumes at midnight UTC.: your account has been paid for its 8 hours today. The app can keep sharing, but those minutes aren't paid. See When does my daily paid time reset?
- This connection reached its 8 paid hours today.: the 8 paid hours also apply per internet connection, and accounts on this connection have used them today. See Can two people on the same WiFi both earn?
- Standby: another device is earning on this connection: only one device per internet connection earns at a time. This one can earn when the other goes offline.
- Not earning: VPN, proxy or unsupported location: turn off any VPN or proxy and use a normal home connection. SteadyEarner doesn't pay in every location yet.
Stopped
- Paused by you: you paused sharing. Resume it in the app whenever you like.
- Sharing off: sharing is turned off in the app. Turn it back on to earn.
- No internet connection: this computer is offline. Earning resumes once it's back online.
If the app shows the link screen instead of a status, this computer isn't linked to your account yet. Link it at steadyearner.com/link.
On your dashboard
The Devices card lists each linked computer as Online, sharing or Offline, with when it was last seen. Online means the app is connected, so it can still be on standby or past today's 8 hours. The app shows the exact reason.
If a computer stays on "Not earning" and you think that's a mistake, contact us with the computer's name from your dashboard.
